Humectant

Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a humectant composed of an aqueous dispersion of a nonionic surfactant vesicle formed from a specific ethoxylate and a specific sorbitan polyester at a specific ratio, and capable of sufficiently exhibiting its effect even under relatively severe conditions of application. CONSTITUTION:The objective humectant is composed of an aqueous dispersion of a nonionic surfactant vesicle formed from (A) 100pts.wt. of one or more ethoxylates selected from a polyoxyethylene castor oil ether and polyoxyethylene hardened castor oil ether preferably having an average molar number of added ethylene oxide of 7-20, especially 8-15 and (B) 3-30pts.wt., preferably 5- 25pts.wt. of a long-chain fatty acid sorbitan polyester having preferably 14- 18C, especially 16-18C long-chain fatty acid residue, and an esterification degree of preferably 2.5-3.5, especially 2.8-3.2 (e.g. sorbitan tripalmitate, sorbitan trioleate, sorbitan tallow fatty acid triester, etc.).
